Fourthcity Laptop Battle Championship - Chop Suey ($10, doors open 7:30) The Fourthcity crew has been pushing the boundaries of electronic music performance in Seattle for the past two years with their successful Monday night weekly and various laptop battles. 2004 has been a landmark year for Fourthcity, as they've organized a national laptop battle tour, a CD compilation release and laptop battle showcase at this year's Bumbershoot festival. The Laptop Battle Championship promises to be the most exciting battle yet, the winner of which is crowned as the Laptop Battle Champion (featuring the winners of the laptop battle tour of six cities). Fourthcity DJs, artists and laptop judges will also be performing before and after the battle. Along with contributing sponsors Ableton, Native Instruments, The Stranger and em411.com, Fourthcity has organized battles in Portland, Vancouver, Canada, San Francisco and Los Angeles; and co-sponsored battles in Philadelphia and Puerto Rico. Decibel's championship will feature the West Coast finalists competing for first place (Dream Electric / Los Angeles; Twittering Machine / San Francisco; Deceptikon / Portland; Spark / Vancouver; and Tom Chi / Seattle).
