Hearth Music and Columbia City Theater Present:
Jayme Stone's Lomax Project
Jayme Stone (banjo, voice) | Eli West (voice, guitar, bouzouki) | Moira Smiley (voice, accordion) | Brittany Haas (fiddle, voice) | Joe Phillips (bass)
Celebrating the work of famed folklorist and field recording pioneer Alan Lomax, this collaboration brings together some of North America's most distinctive and creative roots musicians to revive, recycle and re-imagine traditional music. The repertoire includes Bahamian sea chanties, African-American a cappella singing from the Georgia Sea Islands, Old World weavers' work songs, ancient Appalachian ballads and rousing fiddle tunes that Lomax collected in penitentiaries, plantations, and back porches during his 60+ years recording folk songs in the field.
