Rural Studio Fundraiser
Due to the venue's requirements, we can only offer 30 tickets for sale at the door. If you plan to buy your ticket at the door arrive early!
On January 20th from 8-10pm Rural Studio Alumni and Friends will be hosting a fundraising event at Revolution Brewing in Chicago. THE COST OF ADMISSION INCLUDES UNLIMITED REVOLUTION BREWING CORE HOUSE BEERS AND NON-ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES FOR TWO HOURS, AS WELL AS THREE APPETIZERS! Rural Studio Alumni and friends will present Pecha Kucha style talks about Rural Studio projects.
This event is a fundraiser for the Rural Studio. To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the founding of Auburn University Rural Studio, the entire studio will focus on housing by designing and building eight 20k houses for the community.
What is PechaKucha? PechaKucha or Pecha Kucha (Japanese: , IPA: [petɕa ku͍̥tɕa],[1] chit-chat) is a presentation style in which 20 slides are shown for 20 seconds each (six minutes and 40 seconds in total). The format, which keeps presentations concise and fast-paced, powers multiple-speaker events called PechaKucha Nights (PKNs)
What is the Rural Studio? In 1993, Sambo Mockbee and D.K. Ruth brought a handful of architecture students to rural West Alabama, giving them a more hands-on educational experience whilst assisting an underserved population. Rural Studio has since built more than 150 community-based projects and educated more than 600 "Citizen Architects."
What's a 20K House? The 20K House project began in 2005 as an ongoing Rural Studio research project addressing the need for affordable housing in Hale County, Alabama. With nearly 30% of individuals in Hale County living in poverty, the 20K House has evolved to become a well-built, affordable house for everyone.
What's the 20K City Challenge? Rural Studio aims to build eight 20K Houses to celebrate its 20th Anniversary, and we need your support to reach the $160,000 goal!
