Dr. Peter Gerhardt - Teens and Young Adults in Transition: What now? What's next? What Works?
Join us for a full day of ideas and inspiration to help plan as your child with autism or intellectual disability transitions to adulthood. * As your child's time in the school system winds down, what are the critical skills he or she should be learning to promote success and independence as an adult? * How can we support our children's growth and independence and ensure their safety as well? * How can we support them as they continue to mature and learn beyond the construct of the educational system? * What are the questions we should be asking ourselves, our children and the professionals who serve them? Your registration fee includes morning coffee and an afternoon snack. Lunch is on your own. Bring a bag lunch or visit one of the many restaurants in the immediate area. Early bird registration ends at midnight on January 30th, so register now! Presenter Bio: Peter Gerhardt, Ed.D., is the Managing Partner of JPG Autism Consulting, LLC. Dr. Gerhardt has more than 30 years experience utilizing the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis in support of adolescents and adults with autism spectrum disorders in educational, employment, residential and community-based settings. He has authored and co-authored articles and book chapters on the needs of adolescents and adults with ASD and has presented nationally and internationally on this topic. Dr. Gerhardt serves as Chairman of the Scientific Council for the Organization for Autism Research, is on the Editorial Board of Behavior Analysis in Practice and on numerous professional advisory boards. He received his doctorate from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey's Graduate School of Education.
