EDIC Risk Management
An all inclusive approach to risk management, the presenters will use a "top ten" format to cover a wide range of topics including record keeping and informed consent and will identify the common errors dentists make that lead to Board of Registration licensing action.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this seminar, attendees will have learned what constitutes proper informed consent, how to give proper informed consent to a patient, and how to document your informed consent procedure in such a manner as to give your defense counsel the ammunition he needs to properly defend your case to a satisfactory outcome-a defendant's verdict! Attendees will have also learned the importance of proper record keeping, and receive valuable record keeping and risk management hints.
Attendees will be able to understand the differences between administrative and tort law, and identify common errors dentists make that lead to licensing board disciplinary actions.
Presenters:
Vincent P. Dunn, Esq., Hamel, Marcin, Dunn, Reardon, and Shea
Attorney Dunn is a partner in the Boston law firm of Hamel, Marcin, Dunn, Reardon, and Shea, with nearly twenty years of diverse trial experience in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. He continues his advocacy for healthcare professionals in civil, criminal and administrative matters. He routinely appears in the state and federal courts defending dentists and medical doctors, before the Boards of Registration, at insurance investigations and credentialing hearings, as well as in investigations of alleged billing, medication, and reimbursement improprieties. Before attending law school, Vincent spent three years as a commercial fisherman and oil field worker in Alaska. Vincent is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Hamel, Marcin, Dunn, Reardon, and Shea is an EDIC approved defense firm.
Raymond K. Martin, DDS
Dr. Martin is a Trustee of the Massachusetts Dental Society and the Academy of General Dentistry and maintains a private practice in Boston.
