| Description |
 It is 1973 and Mae has just begun to learn how to read. Her life seems to be turning around for the better as she tries to rise above her humble origins. The two men in her life, her foster brother and former lover Lloyd, and her new boyfriend Henry, are always at odds with one another. Maes first strong decision about her life and fate is her last. Mud is a stark, funny and penetrating three-person play by one of the legends of New Yorks downtown experimental arts scene, Maria Irene Fornes. Fornes approach to playwriting continues to surprise and baffle. She is utterly unique.
