Compost Crash Course!
Description : It is an exciting time for compost! Food waste diversion programs are arriving in our communities, the 2014 Food Waste Ban is approaching and urban agriculture is on the rise. We invite you to join in a compost conversation with Everett Hoffman to broaden and deepen our understanding of composing in Boston, the Commonwealth and the country. Through engaging discussion and demonstration, we will cover topics around compost including;
The Big Picture: Foodscrap Challenges and Opportunities
Compost Science: What, How, Why, When and Where
Home Composting: Outdoor and Indoor Strategies & Demos
Community Composting: Implementing and Innovating in Boston

Presenter : Originally from Cleveland, Everett Hoffman started composting in college because it just made sense. He moved to Boston in 2012 and is dedicating his career to building the social and physical infrastructure necessary for urban composting and agriculture. Everett is a Compost Counselor with City Soil & Greenhouse, a mission driven business supplying Boston with high quality local compost & soil, organics management and "growhow". He also works with Bootstrap Compost, bringing food scrap diversion and awareness to urban dwellers. Currently, Everett is the Community Compost Coordinator conducting the Greenovate Boston Residential Drop-off Pilot at several farmer's markets throughout Boston. He conducts educational compost workshops at schools, universities, businesses and community organizations.
