Playing and singing roots, high-energy Americana music, flavored in tradition but with a mix of old-time, bluegrass, and modern acoustic instrumental music, this music is rooted but not frozen, recognizable but not predictable, comfy, but not smug.

Helen Highwater Stringband brings master at every turn through their fresh vocal combinations and harmonies and rollicking instrumentals-they have a knack for blending their voices as magically as their instruments.

Transcending any one genre, Helen Highwater Stringband is a definite "go-ss" group to experience.

Identifiably classic Mike Compton mandolin, fretboard magic from David Grier's guitar, Missy Raines' animated and solid bass playing, and Shad Cobb's fierce fiddle slides all combine to deliver pure entertainment. Each member of the band is such a strong and comfortable master of their individual instruments, that it is great fun to watch and listen to their combined vocal prowess, polished backup licks, and friendly, relaxed stage banter.
