A Fierce Green Fire: The Battle for a Living Planet
A FIERCE GREEN FIRE chronicles the fifty year history of the environmental movement, as inspired by Philip Shabecoff's book of the same name. The film revives past heroism and victories that have given us a better world and a legacy of true citizenship -- David Brower and the Sierra Club's efforts to thwart the damming of the Colorado River, neighbors' triumph over Love Canal's toxic chemicals, daring Greenpeace campaigns, Brazilian villagers' fight to save the Amazon rainforest, and the continuing challenges of climate change. Director Mark Kitchell skillfully weaves a coherent whole, showing battles won and the continuing fight. Narrated by Robert Redford, Ashley Judd, Van Jones, Isabel Allende, and Meryl Streep, A FIERCE GREEN FIRE reminds us how far we've come and inspires action to restore, protect, and sustain life's very foundation. A must see for everyone who cares about the planet.
Co-sponsored by Futurewise, Washington Conservation Voters, Washington Environmental Council, Sierra Club, Conservation Northwest, Climate Solutions and Washington Wild.
Following the film, refreshments and discussion with film director Mark Kitchell and KC Golden, Senior Policy Advisor at Climate Solutions.
