Note: ONE & ONLY SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SHOW @ 14 BELOW, SANTA MONICA, NOVEMBER 11 GUITAR PLAYER MAGAZINE on Leory half his riffs smell like beer and honky-tonks, while the other half sound like redneck cousins of Led Zeppelin. Leroy Powell and the Messengers will be playing a much anticipated, one off show in Los Angeles on November 11, at 14 Below in Santa Monica. Powells resume is impressive: He played with Shooter Jennings from 2004-2007. They recorded four albums together and toured across the country; Leroy has shared the stage with Willie Nelson, Hank Williams Jr, David Allan Coe, Kris Kristofferson, Dickey Betts, Jessi Colter, Billy Joe Shaver, Charlie Pride, Marshall Tucker Band, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.; Powell played guitars, dobros, and harmonicas on the post-humous recordings of Waylon Jennings, titled Waylon Forever, released last month ; Leroys guitar and pedal steel work can be found on the fall 2008 movie and soundtrack, Soul Men The nov 11 show will be the debut, first live show featuring the band's new songs . These songs are the result of the collaboration between Powell and Nashville's multiple Grammy winning songwriter and producer Gary Nicholson. Powell and band will also be doing a private performance at the annual American Film Market, but this event is not open to the public. Powell returns to Nashville immediately after the 14 Below show, to continue work on the new album. A world tour for 2009 is currently being planned, that will take Leroy Powell and the Messengers not only across the US but to Europe as well, including shows in London, Amsterda, Berlin and Paris.
