LIZ MURPHY - The Best Is Yet to Come
Join Liz Murphy as she makes her solo cabaret debut in "The Best Is Yet to Come" on Friday and Saturday, November 22-23, 8PM, at The Kranzberg Arts Center, 501 N. Grand, St. Louis, MO 63103.

Liz shares the incredible opportunities of her life, the people that have influenced her, and her eagerness for self-discovery.  This show celebrates the joy of newfound possibilities:  the spirit, energy, sparkle, and exuberance of a colorful life.  With her musical partner, Rick Jensen, the evening of song will take us from Cy Coleman to Christopher Cross, Stephen Schwartz to Stephen Sondheim, Martina McBride to Julie Gold....just to mention a few.

Directed by Lina Koutrakos.  Produced by Mariposa Artists.

Liz Murphy can be found singing in grand places like Powell Symphony Hall to performing on the stage with several local metro-east theatre companies.  Some of her favorite roles include Meredith (Batboy-SWIC), Rona (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee-Looking Glass Playhouse), Golde (Fiddler on the Roof - Curtains Up & Clinton County Showcase), Vicki (The Full Monty-Looking Glass Playhouse), and Emma (Jekyll and Hyde- Looking Glass Playhouse).  She is also a proud member of the "Divine Divas", having performed in The Sound of Music at The Muny in St. Louis.  Her favorite role, however, is being a teacher, where she encourages her 6-8th grade students to love reading and writing.  "They inspire me every day...and are a great captive audience!"

Liz has been performing with the Community Gospel Choir in St. Louis for the past seven years --- bringing gospel music to people in hopes of breaking down barriers of discrimination.

Liz began studying cabaret six years ago and has participated in two St. Louis Cabaret Conferences as well as two Midwest Cabaret Conferences in Chicago.  She has performed with Ethan Edwards and Neal Richardson in "High Hopes" cabaret at the Belleville Philharmonic as well as The Bistro at Grand Center in St. Louis.

"Liz Murphy brings a glorious voice and open heart to every song she sings." -- Beckie Menzie

"Liz Murphy is the little girl with the big voice" -- Don Urban, Looking Glass Playhouse

"From Classical to Broadway to Gospel to a little Rock... this girl sings it all!!!" -- Cecelia Stearman

*****

Rick Jensen is certainly no stranger to the St. Louis cabaret scene.  A multi-talented singer, songwriter, director, and producer serving as music director for many local cabaret performers and has starred in several sold-out solo performances in St. Louis.  Rick's compositions have become standards on the New York City Club circuit, garnering him critical praise and earning him six Manhattan Association of Cabaret and Clubs MAC Awards including "Tonight, New York City: The Rick Jensen Songbook," written, musical directed, and hosted by Rick Jensen, and directed by Lina Koutrakos at the Metropolitan Room in New York (2012).

"There's a new genius in the roomCole Porter, Peter Allen, Tom Lehrer, and Nancy Lamott must be beaming down on their collective progeny." -- The Advocate on Rick Jensen's debut CD "Spring Harvest" on which he performs his original material.
