Legal Issues for Nonprofits
There are many aspects of leading and managing a nonprofit that are grounded in the law. Human resource issues, lobbying and advocacy, maintaining tax-exempt status and mergers or acquisitions are just a few. In this information-packed session your basic legal concerns will be addressed, and some local resources identified. Participants are encouraged to fill out the WAACO Nonprofit Legal Self-Assessment Checklist (http://www.waaco.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Nonprofit-Checklist-rev-10292012.pdf) in advance of the session in order to identify your questions.
Session presenters are Scott Winship, Partner in the firm of Vandeberg Johnson & Gandara and Brooke Johnson, Partner at Kampbell, Andrews Arbenz. Both attorneys focus their practices on business issues including nonprofit representation.
The Fine Print Class size is limited to ten participants. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required; we will not be able to accommodate walk-ins. Refunds, less a $3 handling fee, will be made up to one week before each session. No refunds will be made after that time. In emergency situations credits will be issued. We reserve the right to reschedule or cancel a session with insufficient enrollment. In such cases, full refunds will be made.
