A most welcome Seattle return is made this evening by the one and only Sarah Vowell.  The years have brought forth her popular pieces on NPRs This American Life, publication in numerous major magazines (from GQ to McSweeneys), and a number of acclaimed books: Assassination Vacation, Partly Cloudy Patriot, Take the Cannoli, and Radio On. Tonight, it's her worthy newest, The Wordy Shipmates (Riverhead). Essayist and public radio regular Vowell revisits America's Puritan roots in this witty exploration of the ways in which our country's present predicaments are inextricably tied to its past  Vowell traces the 1630 journey of several key English colonists and members of the Massachusetts Bay Colony  Gracefully interspersing her history lesson with personal anecdotes, Vowell offers reflections that are both amusing (colonial history lessons via The Brady Bunch) and tender (watching New Yorkers patiently waiting in line to donate blood after 9/11). - Publishers Weekly.

Town Hall Seattle is located at 1119 Eighth Avenue (at Seneca). For more information on this evening, please call 206.624.6600 and/or see www.elliottbaybook.com.
