AfroSolo will celebrate  it's monumental 20th season with an all star AfroSolo Alumni performance extravaganza.  The event will take place on Monday, August 26th at 7:30 pm at the African American Arts and Culture Complex, 762 Fulton Street in San Francisco.

AfroSolo is dedicated to nurturing, promoting and presenting art and culture of African American and the larger African Diaspora through solo performances and the visual and literary arts. Over the years we have presented over 400 artists giving voice to the Black experience through theater, dance, music, spoken word, poetry, multi-disciplinary arts and the visual arts. We have unblinkingly presented works related to race, civil rights, sexuality, religion and other themes.

The artists participating in our Gala include the  Bay Area's Who's Who in the Black arts scene. They include:

Idris Ackamoor - actor, musician, playwright, Co-Artistic Director of Cultural Odyssey

Avotcja -poet, musician and storyteller extraordinaire

Lawrence Beamen - singer, America's Got Talent Finalist

Blackberri - singer

Bartholomew Casimir - actor, writer,  director and poet

Edris Cooper-Anifowoshe -actor, director and writer

Fely - internationally renowned singer, model, fashion designer from the Ivory Coast, Africa

Pope Flynn - internationally acclaimed master drummer from Ghana

Jewelle Gomez - prize winning poet, playwright and novelist

Noah Griffin - jazz vocalist

Frederick Harris - pianist

Destiny Muhammad, harpist, known as "Harpist from the Hood"

devorah major - poet, playwright and former San Francisco Poet Laureate
 
Lance McGee - actor, playwright and clown

Robert Moses - founder of Robert Moses Kin, choreographer, and writer

Emmit Powell - Radio personality, Gospel music presenter, founder of Emmit Powell and the Gospel Elites

W. Allen Taylor - actor and jazz singer
