This is the first of a series of three Dharma Training retreats exploring the relevance of the Six Perfections (Paramitas) to our everyday life. Practitioners may join these retreats on a one-off basis, but are encouraged to attend two or all three, if possible, to explore different aspects of the practice. A discount, payable as a refund, will be offered to those who attend two or more retreats.
The retreat runs from 5.00pm on Friday 7th to 4.00 pm on Sunday 9th February. Please organise your travel plan to allow you to be present for the whole retreat. The retreat is suitable for those with an established understanding of mindfulness and a regular practice and will include:- -Opportunities to practice guided and silent meditations, sitting meditation, walking meditation, mindful eating and noble silence; -Opportunities to learn from others through dharma sharing and exploration; -Dharma teaching from UK Dharma Teacher(s).
Set texts for reflection may be shared with you before the retreat.
This in-depth retreat will be led by UK Dharma Teachers Jane Coatesworth and Angie Searle at the Purley Chase retreat centre. The retreat is organised by the Community of Interbeing. We are a growing network of people in the UK who practice mindfulness and aspire to develop peace and happiness in ourselves and in the world by living according to the teachings on global ethics of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. His teachings, which can be followed by people of all ages and any religion or none, are notable for their emphasis on joy, engagement in the world, and integrating the practice of mindfulness into daily life. We are a registered educational charity which offers a programme of courses, retreats and events and encourages and supports local groups that meet to practice mindfulness. We ask anyone coming on our retreats to become a member of the Community of Interbeing by accessing the national website https://www.plumvillage.uk/support-us.
