Reaching the Sky: From Bellingham to Everest
Local climber Dave Mauro swore he'd retired from mountain climbing after reaching the top of Mount Baker. Yet somehow, he found himself reaching the summit of the world's tallest mountain.
Dave, a financial planner and improv actor by day, traveled to Nepal and finished the last leg, Everest, of his quest to climb the "Seven Summits" (the tallest peak on each of the seven continents) in late May 2013.
While the journey was a deeply personal one, and a tremendous individual achievement, Dave has used his quest to inspire others and as a fundraiser to help children in Whatcom County.
During this presentation, he shares his journey to the top of Mount Everest through photos, videos and stories.
The evening is presented by Adventures NW Magazine and Backcountry Essentials. All ticket proceeds benefit the children and families served by Brigid Collins Family Support Center.
