Comedy Night: Brett Leake and Big Al Goodwin

BRETT LEAKE Brett Leake worked as a standup comic from 1983 until 1997 when he began working as a sitdown standup comic. In 1998, he started to work also as a funny motivational speaker adding to his standup act, personal stories and what have been called 'philosophic lecturettes', that address using humor as a problem-solving device, and as a means to get more out of life. He performed at the Smithsonian, the Kennedy Center, and Wolftrap. Corporate clients include IBM, Toyota, and Ford.
Brett has facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy. In 1991, he became the first comedian with a physical disability to appear on NBC's The Tonight Show about which Jay Leno said, "He broke up the whole room. People realized here's a man with a disability and he's not gonna' let it bother him." Other television appearances include Entertainment Tonight and the American Comedy Awards. In 2003, public broadcasting stations around the country began running his hour-long comedy special "Laughing Matters with Brett Leake."
BIG AL GOODWIN Big Al Goodwin is one of the funniest and respected comics on the circuit today. Creative and loveable, Big Al can do any room, anywhere, anytime. A comedy veteran of more than fifteen years, Big Al has worked in almost every area of the country on every level including corporations, large military events, private parties and bar mitzvahs.Big Al connects with his audiences--getting them to appreciate the lighter side of their own lives relating his observations and experiences. Big Al was a winner on America's Funniest People, he has been interviewed on The Billy Bush Show, and he has been seen in numerous commercials on PBS. Having played almost every club and college in the country, Big Al progressed to larger venues and theaters opening for Jim Gaffigan, Dave Chappelle, Wayne Brady and Steven Wright.Big Al was a finalist in HBO's Lucky 21 Contest where he represented the East Coast in the Las Vegas Comedy Festival.
HOST: IRWIN LORING In the short time Irwin Loring has been performing on stage he has had many great moments and received many laughs. He was a finalist in the 2007 "Comic of the Year" competition for Maryland, Washington DC and Virginia. He was the winner of best new talent comic at the Reading Comedy Outlet 2008, and a finalist in the Big Break Comedy Competition in 2009. He currently teaches comedy classes at a local college for aspiring comics, focusing on the business of comedy and writing. He founded Kaleidoscope Comedy which produces comedy shows in MD, DC and VA. Kaleidoscope Comedy is very committed to using comedy as a means of fundraising for many charities, such as the "Avon Walk for Breast Cancer", Warrior Aviation, CSAAC, The Miracle League, and local Kiwanis. He has also been a featured comedian for "Comcast on Demand", Web Comedy Club, and Local Point TV.
