Colors from Nature: A Plant Dye workshop with Deepa Natarajan
In this hands-on workshop, you will be learning how to create brilliant colors from nature with Deepa Natarajan, UC Berkeley Botanical Garden natural dye expert and founder of Plantspeople. We will have the rare opportunity to collect plant material from the Garden's Meso-American Cloud Forest and take these materials back to the classroom to prepare our dye. You'll leave with an understanding of fibers, color selection, mordanting, resist techniques. Each participant will be making a silk scarf to take home with them. All materials are included.
