Fantastic Opera Doubleheader: Cavalleria rusticana and Pagliacci!
"Two operas, three murders, four love affairs," shouts one ad for this familiar pairing of sung dramas. The scenes are harrowing, but provide a fantastic showcase for the talents of tenor Scott Piper and soprano Laura Pedersen, along with bass-baritone John Minagro and some wonderful young soloists, including Constantine Pappas, Achilles Bezanis, Isabel Contreras, Christina Swanson, and Andrew Hernandez.
The FOOSA orchestra, conducted by Artistic Director Thomas Loewenheim, provides sensitive accompaniment.
