Draft Animal-Power Field Days
DAPnet Announces Draft Animal-Power Field Days 2013

Join the Draft Animal-Power Network in Barton, Vermont for the weekend of September 28-29, 2013 for a one-of-a-kind learning experience!  Bring your family to the Orleans County Fairgrounds for a showcase of horses, oxen and mules...demonstrating draft animal-power in action.  Experienced working animals and  teamsters will show you how they 'get it done' in  fields, gardens, and woodlots.  Whether you nurse a secret ambition to have your own team, or you just like to watch the big guys and girls at work, you'll find lots to enjoy.  Vendors will have farming-related equipment, books and more for sale; as well as plenty of delicious food.  The fairgrounds are located directly off Route I-91, exit 25 and feature convenient parking.  Advance tickets are available at  (www.draftanimalpower.com).  Please note, no dogs are allowed at the event excepting service animals.

The featured presenter will be Doug "Doc" Hammill, DVM, an internationally known veterinarian, horse trainer, and promoter of Gentle Horsemanship (dochammill.com). He will be demonstrating a his horse training methodology which is equally applicable to riding and driving horses, and mules as well. Some of the other workshops being planned include Starting Oxen, Organic Vegetable Production  Shopping for a Well-Broke Team, Animal-Powered Winter Chores,, Hoof Care, Low Impact Forestry and much more.  The weekend will be filled with opportunities to ask questions, get answers, join discussions and see equipment up close, in use, and for sale.   Listen in and ask questions at roundtable discussions on many topics.

Make your travel plans soon!  You can find information about lodging in the area at travelthekingdom.com.  Camping and RV hookups are available at the fairgrounds.  With many covered spaces, even if the weather is hot or wet, there will still be plenty to see and do under cover.  There will also be a large vendor area with relevant books, periodicals, equipment, information and more. For more information, ticket prices, directions, sponsorship and volunteer opportunities, please visit http://draftanimalpower.com/dap-field-days.
