***CANCELLED*** Summer Foraging
This workshop seeks to reflect the simple logic of finding food and resources in the places where the wild things grow. Our workshop will take a 1.5 hour long walk, answering questions as they come, learning a handful of species that grow local to Boston, and preserving some ancient and inherently useful knowledge. We will walk (nature permitting) through some of the very same areas of south Brookline where our facilitator first started foraging.
Cost: $24 for members, $31 for non-members
About the Facilitator: Some of Ryan Eavey's best foraging experiences were while he worked with the Peace Corps in Zambia. Friends and neighbors in Zambia were naturalists by default, much like how folks would have been in Boston a few hundred years ago, and they freely handed him the knowledge that was passed on from generation to generation. Since that experience, he has tried to learn and experience all the delicious and useful species that grow in his surroundings, and to pass that knowledge on to those who can appreciate its value. Like most who end up getting hooked on the pursuit of mushrooms, tubers, and tea ingredients outside, Ryan enjoys the search (almost) as much as he enjoys the hunt.
