Homo Ha! An Evening with Ant
Ant, Belinda Carroll and Manuel Hall will perform stand up comedy to celebrate 2013 Pride Northwest.
One night only at Curious Comedy Theatre! Homo Ha! Is the 4th annual GLBT Pride comedy showcase, co-produced by Belinda Carroll Comedy and Kitty Moshpit Productions. This year we are excited to bring you the comedian ANT! Along with ANT, Belinda Carroll will be featured and Manuel Hall will be hosting. (bios below) Tickets are $18 in advance and $25 at the door the day of the event. A portion of this year's proceeds will benefit Pride Northwest, a 501c3 organization whose primary focus is the production and execution of the yearly Pride Festival and Parade for Portland's LGBTQIA community.
Hyper, irreverent, and downright fabulous, ANT (spelled in caps) has steadily climbed the comedy hill to become one of the most successful comedians of our time. A regular guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Tyra Banks show, ANT is the only comedian to appear on all five seasons of NBC's hit series Last Comic Standing. As the longtime host of VH1's juggernaut smash Celebrity Fit Club, ANT shined and captured the interest of the LOGO Channel which gave him his own series called, "U.S. of ANT."
Belinda Carroll is a nationally touring stand-up comedian, writer, vocalist and actress with appearances on XM Sirius' Get Off My Lawn!, NBC's GRIMM, MTV, and the Oregon Lottery's Winter Scratch-it's commercial. She caught the comedy bug circa 1986 when in 3rd grade she was asked to play not only, "Aunt Sally" in the school comedic masterpiece "Tom Sawyer"; but was also asked to sing the national anthem, in front of the entire school, in a gray-haired wig, floral mu-mu dress, and Mom's orthopedic stockings. With her pride firmly in the gutter, her road had begun. She has appeared at various venues and festivals including: Bridgetown Comedy Festival, The Comedy Store LA, Butch Voices Oakland, Portland State University, Washington State University, Cap City Comedy, Hawthorne Theater and has headlined the National Planned Parenthood conference. She has produced shows and performed with: Dwight Slade, Nato Green, Chip Pope, Sabrina Matthews, Dana Goldberg, Ian Harvie, Curiously Strong Comedy with Vicki Shaw, Gloria Bigalow and Jackie Monahan, and Lezberados with Sandra Valls and Mimi Gonzalez. Her comedic writing has been published in The Advocate, Curve Magazine, Mercury and PQ Monthly. She is also an author in Persistence: All Ways Butch and Femme a winner of the 2012 Stonewall book award and a LAMBDA nominee.
Manuel Hall is a local Portland comedian who frequently performs in and around the Portland area and can be seen at Brody Theatre, Curious Comedy Theatre and the occasional spa for manscaping.
