Music for the Soul IV: Linda Tillery and the Cultural Heritage Choir and Souljoy
What can music do for the spirit? SRJC's Music for the Soul Concert has been a revelation, selling out to rave reviews in all three of its prior years. If you were among those turned away, you definitely don't want to miss this year's event. And if you have attended we know you'll want to come back for yet another evening of spiritually uplifting music. This year we are proud to welcome the powerful Linda Tillery & the Cultural Heritage Choir. Linda Tillery's storied career now spans four decades, from lead singer of Berkeley's mid-60s soul-funk band The Loading Zone, through her founding membership in Bobby McFerrin's Voicestra, to queen mother of the women's music movement and sought after lecturer on African American cultural history. Her Grammy nominated percussion driven ensemble specializes in the soul-survival music of the African Diaspora in the Americas. Opening the show once again will be Sonoma County favorites SoulJoy with Willy Jordan.
