The Arab Spring and Its Consequences for Israel
The so-called Arab Spring has been the subject of extensive conjecture since the first outbreak of civil unrest in Tunisia in 2011. The fall of dictatorial regimes in that country - followed by those in Libya, Egypt, Yemen and the civil war in Syria - has distracted international attention from Israel and its conflict with the Arab world, but also given rise to some fundamental questions: What will be the long term impact of regime change in these countries for the region's lone true democracy; And how should the Jewish state prepare for the rise to power of Islamic fundamentalists among the region's crop of new leaders? These and other questions will be addressed in this fascinating lecture.
