About Westbrook Manor
This 68-room house, designed in the English country house style, was built in 1886.  Westbrook has magnificent fireplaces, elegant paneled rooms, exquisite carving and woodworking, and stained-glass windows by
Louis Comfort Tiffany.

History of the Annex
The Annex was constructed around 1890 to provide extra space for guests, their servants, and a recreation room for the family.  The building was constructed perpendicular to the existing building and built as its own structure.  To accommodate the new building, the wonderful windows created by Louis Comfort Tiffany, were moved to the east side of the building where they can be seen today.  Of its three floors, the first floor was used as a billiard and card room.  There was also a small organ located in the North West corner of the billiard room.  The organ was used by the famous humanitarian and musician, Albert Schweitzer, a frequent guest of the Cuttings. The organ was powered by gas turbines that were located in the basement.  The second floor of the annex was used as guest rooms and the third floor was housing for servants of the guests.  The carpentry work is exquisite, with imported paneling from England and hand carved details.  Sadly, upon Mr. Cutting's death, Mrs. Cutting installed a steel fire door and closed this section of the house.  Only once a year, the door was opened so the rooms could be cleaned. The second floor of the annex has never before been open as a public space.
This opening, exhibition and reception will mark a milestone in the history of Westbrook.
