The Garden of Ideas is home to an amazing population of birds. Wood ducks, kingfishers, baltimore orioles, yellow warblers, a green-backed heron are but a few of the beautiful species we've seen. Meet fellow birding enthusiasts and learn more about our feathered friends.
Bird Walk Leaders
David Gropper has been a Pediatrician in private practice at Pediatric Associates of Western CT for the past 23 years. He is a lifelong runner and currently participates in road cycling. He enjoys target shooting, hiking, birding, and gardening. He is involved in several environmental groups and is on State Board of Directors of Audubon Connecticut. He has served on the Stewardship Board of The Bent of the River Audubon Center in Southbury, and is currently it's chairman. David resides in Danbury.
Barbara Starr is a retired RN who spends as much time as possible gardening at home in Danbury, as well as hiking, birding, and visiting with grandchildren. Barbara served as President of Lillinonah Audubon Society and also worked for National Audubon Society at Bent of the River in Southbury CT for 3 years. Having served for several years on the board of the LIllinonah Audubon Society and participated in many birding activities with a number of excellent " birders" who shared their expertise, Barbara now enjoys sharing that experience with anyone who wants to come along for the walk
