PORGY & BESS IN CONCERT
On May 17th & 18th at the First Universalist Church in Barnard -- BarnArts Center for the Arts will present highlights of the American folk opera by George Gershwin and Dubose Heyward which follows the lives of the inhabitants of Catfish Row, an African-American section of Charleston, South Carolina in the 1920's.
Leading the cast are Jasmine Thomas, Cameron Bernard Jones, Laurice Kennel, Barry Robinson, Tesia Kwarteng, Ken Alston Jr., Alexandra Smith, and Ernest Jackson.
The ensemble will include Julie Groppe, Anne Dean, Susan Malerich, Yael Taylor, Rachel Shields, DIane Root, Tambrey Vutech, John Marshall, Steven Hiller, Benjamin Pauly, and Michael Denmeade.
