Hillsboro Community Youth Choir Spring Concert "Down By The Riverside"
Hillsboro Community Youth Choir's Spring Concert: "Down By the Riverside" Saturday, May 18th at 4:00 pm Hillsboro High School Auditorium
Artistic Director Cindy Uecker and the HCYC young singers are preparing a rousing spring concert for music and history lovers. The concert salutes the history of the Civil War and reflects on past and future aspirations to peace in our country. Highlights include camp meeting songs such as "As I Went Down in the River to Pray", "Shall We Gather at the River;" slavery and freedom songs including "Deep River", "Follow the Drinking Gourd" and " Get on Board;" Civil War songs including "Battle Hymn of the Republic;" and post-war legacy choral works including "A Just and Lasting Peace" and "Down By the Riverside" by Gwyneth Walker. Poetry and readings honor the 150th anniversary of the Civil War and the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington.
Tickets $8 per adult ~ $2 for youth (6-18) Free for children under 6 At http://www.hillsborocommunityyouthchoir.org/ And at the door 30 minutes before concert
