EXCERPTS FROM THE SOUL OF A WOMAN
Excerpts from the Soul of a Woman is a powerful telling of the human experience from the heart of a woman, expressed through the artistry of dance, music, poetry, and video. This carefully crafted anthology of art explores struggles that women face as well as the triumphs and beauty of being a woman. Excerpts brings to light the universality of a woman's experience regardless of race, nationality, or socio-economic status; it reminds us that we have the courage to acknowledge our struggles and the inner strength to make positive change. In acknowledgement of world affairs, Excerpts also includes a new soul provoking dance work, inspired by the Female Faces of War documentary, which explores how the effects of war are shared by women across the globe. A preview of Excerpts was presented at the Central District Forums Creation Project showcase on May 16, 2008. New sections include Of Love and Friendship, a presentation from Jerboa Dance, and guest appearances from other artists in the community.
