Screening of Catching Babies
Catching Babies is a 60-minute documentary that tells the story of women as they become midwives in El Paso, Texas. Kennasha, Jessica, Diana and Sandra are young modern women embarking on a journey toward the ancient tradition of midwifery. They are struggling through one of the most demanding schools of midwifery in the country, Maternidad la Luz. It is also one of the few midwifery schools in the US that has a full scholarship for midwifery students of color!
The group bonds as sister-midwives in this transformative space, which gives birth to babies, mothers and midwives. Catching Babies is the personal story of three women as they strive to change the world by changing the way babies are born.
The documentary is directed by film director Barni Qaasim.
There will be a panel discussion of home birth midwives and midwifery students following the documentary. If you are interested in learning about home birth, or in becoming a home birth midwife, this is an opportunity to have our questions answered.
Following the screening we will have a discussion with local midwives and doulas.
Also, Vegan Treat and Food will be on Sale for purchase and vendors selling Wellness and Holistic Items.
All proceeds will go to assisting in our Free Doula Services to women and families in need!
Give Thanks and hope to see you there!
