Black History Month Film Festival
Rainier Valley Cultural Center Seattle, WA
The time to celebrate Black History Month is drawing near and Third Level Events is pleased to announce our return to the Rainier Valley Cultural Center for our 3rd annual Black History Month Film Festival & Celebration. We are calling all local schools, daycares, community centers and youth enrichment programs to mark your calendars now and bring your students to our February viewings.
Last years event was a huge success with our communitys youth and we are back by popular demand. In response to the strong feedback from educators such as you, we will once again be showing the animated film, Our Friend Martin, an engaging tribute to one of America's most legendary figures, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and in addition, we have added Ruby Bridges, an uplifting story of one girl's courage as one of the first black students to integrate an all-white school.
Group rates are again being extended to groups over 15 which include the film and the use of the lower facility for your group to eat lunch (provided by school) either prior to or after the film. Third Level Events is dedicated to providing positive and educational forums for our youth and depend on your support and participation which allows us to make this event an annual event.
Third Level Black History Month Film Festival was begun in 2005 by Anthony Tibbs and Nichelle Alderson out of a deep commitment to the cultural education and enrichment of our community youth. Although there is a wealth of information regarding Black History Month, Anthony and Nichelle noticed there were few community events which provided an educational and entertaining celebration of history catered specifically for our young people.
Utilizing community ties and support from local educators, the first annual event was created and received an enormous positive response. The Third Level BHM Film Festival is working on adding more activities and films for future events and relies heavily on community input and support.
For further information or details on how to become a sponsor of the Third Level BHM Film Festival, please contact Anthony Tibbs or Nichelle Alderson at 206.984.7751.
