ABOUT TBJ:
THE BOMBER JACKET started in February 2012 in Berlin. The team of writers had been pursuing music journalism for a while and wanted to have an outlet for articles that didn't have such confined boundaries, or follow the rest of the press--a place that accepted music from any kind of background as long as it was good.
But before Berlin, there was this place called Beatpol--a music venue in Dresden. TBJ's editor was lucky to work there and learn about music and the "industry" from some of the kindest people she had ever met who really changed her outlook on how things can work in the music world today.
While at Beatpol, musicians often shared with her their difficulties with getting their music abroad, and how some bookers/venues wouldn't even consider them unless they had a review in a select few American publications. Well, that kind of stinks. And there are certainly ways around that game.
TBJ is a small step in the right direction. If we can help "make things happen," even in the slightest bit, then we are doing our job.
The website's headquarters are now in New York City, and THE BOMBER JACKET name is also used to brand PR campaigns, book shows, and handle other music-based projects.
