| Description |
The Bucks County Symphony (BCS) is proud to announce its annual spring concert to be held at Central Bucks High School East, 2804 Holicong Road, Doylestown, PA on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 8:00 PM. The featured soloist will be Tanya Dusevic Witek, a flutist with the Greenwich Symphony, performing Lukas Fosss Renaissance Concerto. Ms. Witek is the recipient of many awards in the United States and Canada, including a Fulbright Scholarship, The National Arts Clubs Tilden Prize, and the Sony ES Award for Excellence. Ms Witek has performed throughout the US, Europe and Asia including the mostly Mozart Festival at Lincoln Center. The Renaissance Concerto is one of Fosss later works, which the composer described as a handshake across the centuries, combining Renaissance and modern elements.
The orchestra is under the direction of Maestro Gary Fagin and will also perform Dvoraks Symphony No. 8 in G Major, as well as The Threepenny Opera Suite by Kurt Weill, whose works have experienced a resurgence in popularity. According to The New York Times, Weill is viewed as a revolutionary artist and the prime model of one of the most remarkable musical movements of the late twentieth century.
Tickets are available at the door, at Rutherford's Camera Shop in Doylestown, by mail, or through our website. Ticket prices are as follows: Adult ticket $18 ($20 at the door), Senior Citizen ticket $15 and students are free.
