VOYAGE, VOYAGE + ZYGMUNT HÜBNER - PLAYS WITH REALITY
ZYGMUNT HÜBNER - PLAYS WITH REALITY
2017, 64 min, Poland
Polish with English subtitles
dir. Edyta Wroblewska

Eminent Polish stage director, actor, unforgettable pedagogue, and director of many theater companies, Zygmunt Hübner was a part of the political reality, but he was also able to formulate an autonomous voice in the grim reality of communist Poland. This documentary is also a tribute to the vision of theatre proposed by Hübner, a no-nonsense institution inviting the viewer to a conversation and devoted to the issues important for society. It was the theatre that gets involved.
Twórcza sylwetka jednego z najwybitniejszych polskich rezyserów teatralnych, aktora i niezapomnianego pedagoga oraz dyrektora wielu teatrów. Film przedstawia Zygmunta Hübnera jako artyste wpisanego w kontekst polityczny, lecz takze potrafiacego sformuowac autonomiczny glos pomimo ponurej rzeczywistosci PRL-u. Dokument jest takze holdem dla wizji teatru, jaki proponowal Hübner  rzeczowego, zapraszajacego widza do rozmowy i oddanego istotnym sprawom spoleczenstwa. Teatru, który sie wtraca.

dir. Aleksandra Potoczek
"Voyage, Voyage" is a documentary created for the 70th anniversary of the State Higher School of Theater in Cracow.  The film is a lively tale about the outstanding graduates and celebrities of the school who reveal their early hopes, what the school gave them, what obstacles they confronted, and how the school shaped them and changed them. Magdalena Cielecka reminisces about her first theater rehearsals; Grzegorz Jarzyna says that students emerged armored ideologically by the schools intensity; Krystian Lupa illustrates that the school is a workshop for an actors first steps; Jerzy Stuhr, Dorota Segda, and Jerzy Trela explain their definition of acting; and Jan Peszek, Anna Radwan, and Dawid Ogrodnik explain methods of working with students.  Their expectations, dreams, and role models speak to those just starting their adventures with the actors life.
