During a Phosphorescent tour opening for David Gray, Ainslie became close with Grays keyboardist James Hallawell. Hallawell invited Phosphorescent to Sawmills Studio in remote Cornwall. It was a freewheeling session of Jamess and Jesses original compositions and a handful of covers. Ainslie recalls, We were down by the river, taking canoe rides, feeding and taunting swans.

Drawing on influences ranging from the tonal explorations of Warren Ellis to the delicate emotional landscape of Mark Knopfler and the ceremonial sonic apocalypse of the mighty Crazy Horse, Ainslie transmits raw emotion and the sublime power of redemption through exquisite, soulful guitar work, clear melodies, and insightful songwriting reminiscent of the great Warren Zevon.

City of Sorrow is supported by an all-star cast: keys by James Hallawell (David Gray, Florence and The Machine, The Waterboys); and the rhythm section includes Phosphorescents Matthew Houck, Jeffrey Bailey, Scott Stapleton, Ricky Ray Jackson, and Christopher Marine.

Ainslie has recorded and toured internationally as a member guitarist and vocalist of Phosphorescent, Virgin Forest, and Castanets, and he has performed alongside Willie Nelson, David Gray, The National, and Deer Tick.

Its difficult to define a band like The Quahogs by a genre. Equal parts tender and heavy rock, singer/songwriter Steve DelMonicos lyrics are witty, wise, and delivered with a mentholated authority. Steve Donovans lead guitar meanders from gently weeping to chainsaw shredding, oftentimes in the same song. Amato Zinno and Nick Iddon on bass and drums, round out the sound by hanging in the back pocket like a full wallet. Their most recent release, an 11 song LP titled Sunny Waste, was recorded at the revered Columbus Theatre in Providence. It highlights their eclectic vision of rock-and-roll - think of Townes Van Zandt shaking hands with The Meat Puppets and 70s era Rolling Stones. They are becoming well-known for their high-energy live performances, but are equally comfortable in a stripped-down environment.

Sixteen Jackies squirm through their offbeat style of guitar-based pop rock with feral emotion and reckless abandon, equal parts sweet and sour. Featuring members of the Plums, Teenage Mysticism, and the Smiling Lies.
