Storytelling with Ada Cheng
||Course Description||
In this well-rounded introductory storytelling class, we will discuss storytelling/live lit scenes in Chicago, basic tenets of storytelling, differences in written and oral traditions, performative and emotive components in storytelling, storytelling as an art and profession, the structural contexts within which stories are created and told, and the artistic journey as a storyteller. Students will learn to construct and tell stories in class along with weekly in-depth discussions about the art of storytelling.

||About the Instructor||
Ada Cheng is a professor-turned-storyteller and performing artist. She is a one-time Moth StorySLAM winner, a presenter/performer at the National Storytelling Conference, and a winner of 2017 Chicago's Bughouse Square Debates. She has been featured at storytelling shows in Chicago, Atlanta, New York, Asheville, and Cedar Rapids. She has performed her solo show, NOT QUITE: Asian American by Law, Asian Woman by Desire, at Capital Fringe Festival, Minnesota Fringe Festival, and Boulder International Fringe Festival this summer.
