Sumire Yoshihara + Miyama McQueen-Tokita (Japan)
Sumire Yoshihara (percussion) is among the most respected and iconic performers of Japanese contemporary music, and Miyama McQueen-Tokita (koto) is emerging as a versatile, award-winning koto player. Bridging ancient and new sounds, this amazing duo will present a selection of Japanese contemporary music showcasing a range of wonderfully poetic approaches in a program that includes solo and duo works by Maki Ishii, Michio Kitazume, and Teizo Matsumura, as well as a new duo by Yoichi Sugiyama.
