Location: Pride Arts Center -- at its Broadway theater, at 4139 N. Broadway. Suggested payment is $10, with half of proceeds going to Chicago Abortion Fund and half to the Pride Center.

Play reading, directed by Iris Sowlat, at 7:30 and panel," Never Go Back to When America Wasn't So Great Again," featuring Jane member Jeanne Galatzer-Levy, reproductive rights activist Aileen Kim, and moderated by Alicia Swiz, at 9. Reception to follow by the Chicago Women's History Center.

This is a reading of the short version of Jane: Abortion and the Underground, by Paula Kamen, based on original interviews with women who ran and used this legendary pre-Roe Chicago abortion service. Widely known as "the best kept secret in Chicago," Jane was run in private apartments across the city from 1969 to 1973 by "hippie housewives," students and activists -- and provided safe abortions to more than 10,000 women.
