Getsome Athletics Jammer Clinic 1/5/13

Getsome Athletics will be leading a 4 hour training clinic focused on skills you need to know to be a successful roller derby jammer. January 5th, 2013 from noon to 4 at "the Rat's Nest" in Ballard, WA.

This clinic will be led by Carmen Getsome whose jamming skills have earned her the Rat City Rollergirl Jammer of the Year Award in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. Carmen has been coaching roller derby for the last 5 years spreading the word of derby to every corner of the earth!

This clinic is for jammers of all skill levels, if you have multiple years experience and want to refine your skills or if you are thinking about throwing the star cap on for hte first time in 2013 then this clinic is for you!

The four hour clinic will be progressive training allowing you to develop your jammer skills and by the end of the clinic put them to use in scenarios.

The basic schedule for this clinic is:

12-1 individual juking skills; utilizing your speed, space and size to get past people

1-2 legally getting through a 4 wall, where to be and how to get there

2-3 seeing space and taking it; how to approach a pack and how to pick a line

3-4 jamming smart, when to call it, when to run it; scenarios of all styles.

This clinic is for skaters who have basic derby skills, you must be able to skate safely, as well as give and take a hit. It is also open to skater age 16 and over with approval from Getsome Athletics.
