Jenny Scheinman Solo & with John Wood
Jenny Scheinman will be celebrating her most recent release, Here On Earth (RPF 2017)  with a suite of solo fiddle tunes, followed by songs and improvisations with her newest collaborater, musician John Wood.

Jenny Scheinman is a violinist, fiddler, singer, and writer of songs with and without words. She grew up on a homestead in Petrolia, California, and has been performing since she was a teenager. She has toured and recorded with numerous American songwriting legends such as Lucinda Williams, Bruce Cockburn, Rodney Crowell, Lou Reed and Ani Difranco. She has also worked extensively with such innovative jazz artists in the world as Bill Frisell, Jason Moran, Brian Blade, Nels Cline and Marc Ribot. In March of 2015 she premiered a multi-media performance at Duke University entitled Kannapolis:A Moving Portrait which she continues to present in theaters around the country. She has released eight albums of original music. Of particular interest to the Folklife crowd might be her two most recent albums: Here On Earth, which is a tribute to American fiddle tunes, and The Littlest Prisoner which is an album of songs including several about the culture and landscape of Humboldt County. www.jennyscheinman.com

The Compost Mountain Boys are a tradition of bluegrass music in Humboldt County, CA - now celebrating over 25 years! From The Redwoods on California's Far North Coast, comes a professional band that has kept the tradition of Bluegrass alive, as well as becoming a tradition in themselves. Performing often in many of the same local venues in which they started over 20 years ago, the group has brought progressive song choices to a point of mellowness and balance. With a tight, driving sound they play bluegrass standards and perform their own material, songs and instrumentals. From local Brew pubs to major Festivals, the Compost Mountain experience is an excellent lively addition to your venue or event. Traditional and progressive sounding bluegrass... with a 1960s feel. - Bluegrass today
