AFP Luncheon, June 2017
Being inclusion-minded is a leadership function. As such, leaders are encouraged to initiate opportunities to strengthen their inclusion muscle. Learning how to be an effective ally requires operating with a lens of inclusion and showing leadership in communication around socially complex issues. Individuals and organizations interested in becoming change agents must focus their efforts on becoming a part of the critical conversations that lead to value of human difference. This presentation will focus on the role funders/philanthropy plays in partnering with communities to create effective community engagement based on effective intercultural relationships. South Carolinas growing diversity provides local leaders with an opportunity to strengthen their communities through courageous conversations, authentic engagement and social change. This interactive workshop is designed for nonprofit leaders and professionals who are ready to build more inclusive, welcoming organizations for those they serve and work with. Utilizing a values-based transformational leadership lens, you will leave with a concrete vision and action steps to strengthen your leadership legacy.

Learning Objectives:
Understand and apply core values of diversity, equity and inclusion to your work
Recognize the inherent worth and dignity of diverse populations and communities
Identify your signature strengths that can be used when leading organizational change
