Kosher Jokes for the Halaladays (TORONTO)
On Sunday, December 2nd "Kosher Jokes for the Halaladays" returns to Toronto for its second edition. Building on the success of last year's three city-run, Producers Eman and Jess Salomon are excited to once again bring Jews and Muslims* together to celebrate what we have in common: feeling left out at Christmas, circumcision, not being as popular as our food. The good stuff, really.
Inspired by late-night conversations at the bar where Jess and Eman single-handedly resolve the Israeli- Palestinian conflict only to wake up and find that it's still going on, these Montreal-based stand ups have booked an all star cast of Jewish and Muslim comics to play Toronto's hottest new stand up comedy club, The Lot. Because although we don't have Santa, or Middle East peace, we do have jokes ... well, the Muslims are getting there, inshallah.
The Line-Up:
Eman, the show's creator and co-producer has taped a half-hour "Comedy Now!" special for CTV; been featured on CBC's "The Debaters"; and appeared at the Just for Laughs, Amman, and Halifax Comedy Festivals.
Jess Salomon, the show's co-producer was a UN war crimes lawyer before she decided it was time to get serious. The Montreal Metro has called her comedy "charming and intelligent".
Ali Hassan, will be hosting the show. He is the Lead Comedy Panelist on The George Stroumboulopoulos Show and one of Canada's most sought after hosts. Ali has appeared at the Jordan Comedy Festival and in the hit movies "Goon", "Breakaway", and "French Immersion".
Rounding out the cast are special guests, Faisal Butt a feature act at top clubs across Canada, he has played JFL42 and been a part of the infamous "We Ain't Terrorists" tour; Robert Keller, a 2012 Tim Sims Award Nominee; and up and comer Hoodo Hersi.
