Atlas Lab / The Solars
Atlas Lab formed in the fall of 2014 when Alex and Solei met street performing in Harvard Square. Through mutual friendships they solidified their lineup as a 5 piece group. Lead by the velvety croon of Solei's palpable vocal style, the music is textured and warm, blending elements of ambient music with funk/soul grooves, looped vocals, and traditional folk songwriting.
They released their first studio EP, "Wake Up Slow," in January 2016 which was featured on the "Bandcamp Weekly" online radio show, as well as the "New and Notable" section on the Bandcamp homepage. In addition, the EP has earned press from many blogs both domestic and international. In February 2016, they celebrated the release of "Wake Up Slow" at a sold out concert at Davis Square Theatre in Somerville, MA.
The Solars: like if Ben Folds and James Mercer had a fight to the death in the middle of a post-apocalyptic wasteland, and then Art Garfunkel, Bob Dylan, and a VERY young George Harrison came out of a nearby saloon to tell us about their girlfriends. - Sean Ollerton
Impeccable pop proclivities . . . recalls the British Invasion's golden era. - Seven Days
