Kanawha Players' Exceptional Stars Production of Willy Wonka Jr.
Kanawha Players is proud to announce an exciting opportunity. In April 2017, KP will perform a sensory friendly performance for not only the audience but the cast as well. Professionals, parents and theatre mentors will be available to guide our cast throughout the process of rehearsing and performing a theatre production. Not only will this event provide a creative outlet for children with special needs but also to identify the impact of a community theater experience on the communication skills, socialization, and self confidence/self esteem of children with special needs. This production is open for all of our Exceptional Stars, no one is excluded. KP will also donate a portion of the proceeds to a local foundation.

Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka JR. follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whomever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats, but the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonka's rules in the factory or suffer the consequences.
