Bobby Shew - Old Church Benefit Concert - Tribute to the Great Ladies of Jazz
Albuquerque native and Corrales resident Bobby Shew has had a love affair with his trumpet and jazz since the age of ten, and has played with brilliant passion ever since. He has performed with the big bands of Tommy Dorsey, Woody Herman, Benny Goodman and others, and he has the stories to go with the music.
For this concert, Bobby Shew will be joined by his Quintet, composed of Jim Ahrend at piano, Colin Deuble on bass, Cal Haines on drums and Glenn Kostur on saxophone and flute as well as singer Carla Van Blake, performing jazz classics from Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn, Lena Horne, Carmen McRae, and more.
A perennial favorite, Bobby has given many concerts at the Old Church and states, "I am more than happy to help raise money for this great icon of Corrales and home to so many community events." He adds, "This is one great facility that deserves a whole lot of love and respect."
This benefit concert will help the Corrales Historical Society raise funds to complete necessary repairs to the Old Church Complex so that this historic beauty can be enjoyed for years to come.
$28 of the ticket price is tax deductible. Additional donations will be accepted at the door the night of the performance or online anytime at corraleshistory.org
