Speaker: Lieutenant Colonel John Morrow, Commander and District Engineer of the San Francisco District (United States Army Corps of Engineers)
Synopsis: LTC Morrow will provide an overview of the San Francisco Districts mission and operations, current projects, and upcoming contracts.
About our Speaker:
Lieutenant Colonel John Morrow assumed command as the 54th Commander and District Engineer of the San Francisco District (Unites States Army Corps of Engineers) in June, 2014. As Commander and District Engineer, he is responsible for 250+ employees (primarily Department of the Army Civilians) responsible for executing a $120M annual program within California and southern Oregon. Mission assignments include Overseas Contingency Operations, Interagency and International Support; nationwide disaster response; reducing flood risk for a population of over 6.5M people; maintaining 22 federal ship channels to support a $68B annual maritime industry and regional economy whose $565B GDP ranks 19th worldwide; federal regulatory actions; and environmental restoration along 900 miles of the Pacific Coast and its largest estuary. Responsible for over $1B in real property and over $16M in organizational property. Closely works with numerous federal, state, and local government agencies, private-sector and non-profit organizations, and 25 U.S. Congressional Members. Prior to assuming command of the District, LTC Morrow was at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri where he served as the Chief of Engineer Doctrine at the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence.
LTC Morrows awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Staff Badge, Joint Staff Badge, Parachutist Badge, and the Combat Action Badge. He is also a recipient of the Bronze Order of the deFleury Medal from the Army Engineer Association and a licensed Fixed Wing Pilot. He is a member of multiple professional organizations, including the Army Engineer Association (AEA) and the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME).
