PRESENTATION: Developing Effective Project Performance Strategies - Counting What Counts
Organizations often utilize Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) or some sort of metrics to measure their project delivery performance. Most often organizations measure financial indicators and ignore critical non-financial measures such as customer satisfaction. One set of performance measures may work well for one organization and may not be effective for others. The appropriate set of measures depends on the organizations project management maturity and the culture. Project management culture includes organizational visions, values, practices, management expectations, available technologies, and other Organizational Process Assets. This presentation will discuss real-life case studies where various performance measurements were applied, effectiveness of the project performance measurement, and lessons learned. The presentation will enhance the audiences awareness of project performance measurement strategies and inspire them to select the appropriate metrics.

PRESENTER:  Zahid Khan, PE, PMP
Mr. Khan has over twenty-three years of professional experience in planning, managing, and implementing public sector capital projects, programs, and portfolios.  He developed and managed Project Management Office (PMO) for King County Solid Waste Division. As the PMO Manager, he directed project managers, developed project management governance, developed project performance management strategies, and taught numerous project management classes through the Registered Education Provider (R.E.P.) program of Project Management Institute (PMI®).  Zahid presented and published organizational project management, risk management, and leadership papers at several conferences such as American Public Works Association, PMI Global Congresses, and PMI local chapters.
