All these men have one thing in common.

Lou Salome.

The first female psychoanalyst. An intellectual genius. A pioneer of the psychology of female sexuality. A philosopher. A novelist. A poet. A playwright. The object of affection in the eyes of those men listed above. All these contributions to the world and yet, the later is how Salomeis most commonly remembered, if she is remembered at all...

The men whose lives Salome deeply influenced are widely known household names, yet her work has been, to some extent, forgotten.

Be a part of telling her story. Because we need the brilliance of women to be heard.

Theatre 4the People is an award-winning non-profit theater company based in New York City. This Spring, we are thrilled to present the world premiere of Lou by emerging playwright Haley Rice, directed by Kate Moore Heaney. We're excited to announce an all female cast and creative team coming together to reclaim the forgotten seductive brilliance of Lou Salome, the first female psychoanalyst. Join us for a developmental reading of Lou as we prepare for the world premiere at the Paradise Factory this upcoming Spring 2017.

Come hear a reading of this new work and stick around after for a complimentary wine reception afterwards.

My goal as a director, playwright, and producer is to create theatre that contributes more questions than answers, prompts audiences to examine social and political issues from all sides, fosters discussion within communities, promotes empathy, and creates ripples of thought and action that extend beyond a performance itself.
