April 18th First 2000 Days Network Night: Capstone: A Journey of 216 Days
Come out and join us on a wonderful night filled with laughter, food and learning. Over the last year the Mount Royal University Bachelor of Child Studies Capstone group has been working towards linking, aligning, and leveraging all of their learning and experiences towards building better outcomes for children. With the exceptional teaching of Launa Clark this groups of ladies would like to welcome you to a Network Night where they will share all of their experiences over the last 216 days.

Guest speakers will include:
Jenn Bell:
Adventurers School Age Care : In working with the Advisory Committees with Adventurers School Age Care, we were able to use the Strengthening Families framework to narrow down to 30 questions to be submitted in a survey to 400 families in 9 programs. From there we were able to look at the needs of the Families and Children served. It is the hope to be able to bridge servicing gaps and communication between Adventures and families to make the program more successful for the families and children of Calgary by building awareness and parental resilience.
Paxton Bruce:
Sharing linkages, alignments, and leveraging efforts with The First 2000 Days Networks Strengthening Families Collective Impact Pilot and Calgary Reads. Discussing the integrated role as a capstone student between The Network and Calgary Reads and processes in delivery, integration, and knowledge sharing of the Strengthening Families Approach with a focus on the parental resilience factor.
Tressa DeBoer:
Partner Agency- Carya. Using feedback from the staff and parents to identify gaps related to Parental Resilience within a couple of Caryas programs, and to create a workplan to make improvements. The ultimate goal is to have all Carya programs using the Strengthening Families approach as a tool to work towards continuous improvement.
Rebecca Johnson:
I am working with WinSport as they take on a unique approach to strengthening families and supporting child development; They are working towards enhancing existing sports programs and providing early childhood development programs, with an active living focus, for children in their early years. We are also sharing with parents how important physical literacy development is to the health of the whole child.
Nicole Koch:
Through collaborating with my partner agency CARYA and their Ready 4 Learning program, we have created a project called Strengthening Families to Strengthen Communities. This project aims to enhance awareness of the Strengthening Families approach to agencies in Bowness working directly with families in hope of raising the ECMap results for this community and improving early childhood outcomes.
Breanne Murray:
Partner Agency Families Matter. Working with the families at Families Matter to build a better understanding of Strengthening Families and the support and learning of staff through parent feedback with a emphasis on Parental Resilience.
Natasha Randhawa & Kelsey Stadnyk:
Partner Agencies: NW Coalition & Deep South Coalition. We compared the Strengthening Families Self Assessment Tool and the CoalitionsCollaborating for Impact (CCI). We will be presenting our findings and share recommendations on how the coalitions can implement the Strengthening Families lens further into the coalition practices
Alana Wyse:
Churchill Park Play Penn Child Care Center. Working together with Lynsey Anderson to further incorporate Strengthening Families within the center while also educating new staff members about the initiative. In order to do so effectively, we have been collaborating with the parents and staff of Play Penn as well as Alberta Health Services.
