OUR STORY:
Chica Project was founded in 2011 with the mission to support young Latinas develop the skills necessary to succeed in school and society. Our program provides leadership development and mentoring to high school students on education, health, finances, and career, among other life skills. Our participants have experienced meaningful enrichment opportunities, enhanced their social-emotional intelligence, met inspirational role models, visited local colleges, and increased self-advocacy skills. All of this is done in an environment that supports and encourages a deepened understanding of our cultures and identities.
Since the programs inception, we have served over 500 young Latinas. Today, we have active participants in Boston, Holyoke, Lawrence, Lynn, and Springfield. We currently serve over 110 girls and have a volunteer staff and over 60 community volunteers.
We are proud to stand at the forefront of our community by providing the next generation of Latinas with the tools needed to thrive personally and professionally. Despite these successes, the need for Chica Project is immediate and increasing.
Demographic trends indicate that by 2050, 1 in 4 Americans will be of Latino/Hispanic descent, and we look to expand and continue to support this growing population.
Our success depends on the support of sponsors, donors, mentors, and volunteers who have transformed and empowered the lives of young Latinas throughout our Commonwealth.
